Carolina Maciel

Dr. Carolina Maciel is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and the Director of Research for the Neurocritical Care division at the University of Florida Gainesville system and holds research faculty positions at Yale University and University of Utah. Carolina is triple boarded in Neurology, Neurocritical Care and Critical Care EEG; her academic interests include developing team science to tackle complex scientific questions in the neurocritically ill.

Carolina's areas of scientific focus include neuroprognostication, brain injury monitoring methods, secondary brain injury mechanisms, novel therapeutic approaches to status epilepticus and acute headache, and the critical care management of the potential organ donor. Her favorite words are joy, equity, equality, and love. As a native Brazilian, Carolina enjoys spending time off soaking up the sunshine while devouring a book.
